The Salvation Army and other organizations in Switzerland call their outreach to women in prostitution “Rahab“. The name comes from an Old Testament prostitute in the city of Jericho. She saw the power of the biblical God, believed in him and later became an ancestor of Jesus.
Rahab-work has a long tradition in the Salvation Army. Right from the start the founders in England helped such women. At present the Swiss Salvation Army has outreaches in Zurich, Basel, Bern and Solothurn.
